Maine State Police Troop F Weekly Report (June 27 – July 3)

Troop 'F' of the Maine State Police based in Houlton, responded to 144 calls for service in the past week. Here's a look at activity posted in their weekly log:

June 28 – Trooper Bell and Recruit Kilcollins investigated a domestic violence assault in Amity. The male suspect left the scene in his truck and was found by the Troopers. Investigation revealed that the male assaulted his wife. The male was arrested for domestic violence assault, OUI, and OAS. Tr. Endre and Recruit Adams assisted.

June 28 – Tr. Levesque arrested an 18-year-old Mapleton male for Terrorizing and Criminal Mischief. Troop F received a 911 call from the victim reporting a male was in his driveway and that his vehicle was being damaged and the lights had been broken out. The male left in a vehicle prior to Troopers arriving and as Tr. Levesque was responding and came across the suspect’s vehicle on Main Street in Mapleton. Tr. Levesque stopped the vehicle and identified the male and a female juvenile. The victim came to the scene and identified the male as one of the persons involved in the damage. The male was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton where bail will be set. This incident is still under investigation by Tr. Levesque. There were no injuries sustained during the incident.

June 29 – Tr. Endre and Recruit Adams stopped a vehicle for a 29-A violation. During the stop the operator advised Tr. Endre that he was on probation for prior drug charges. Through an investigation and search of the vehicle; Tr. Endre and Recruit Adams found a small amount of marijuana. The male operator also tested positive for methamphetamine after a urine test. The operator’s probation officer was contacted and advised that he would address the issues at a later date.

June 30 – Tr. Curtin investigated a suspicious incident in Portage where a camp owner found her outside door ajar. Nothing was found to be missing from the camp and the investigation is ongoing.

June 30 – Tr. Curtin investigated a criminal trespass complaint in Perham in which a landowner found a vehicle full of people drinking on his property. The vehicle left prior to his arrival. Criminal trespass warnings will be issued when subjects are located.

June 30 – Tr. Sylvia investigated the theft of fuel from a Sherman filling station. Investigation is ongoing.

June 30 – Tr. Sylvia covered a car deer crash on the interstate in New Limerick. No injuries were reported.

June 30 – Tr. Sylvia covered a car moose crash on Route 11 in Moro. There were no injuries.

July  1 – Tr. Curtin investigated a civil land dispute in St. John. The parties were advised to seek legal advice and to have their properties surveyed.

July 1 – Tr. Curtin summoned a Fort Kent man for operating after suspension in Fort Kent.

July 1 – Tr. Curtin investigated a property damage crash in Frenchville in which a woman lost control and left the road after avoiding a moose.

July 1 – Tr. Casavant investigated a suspicious incident in Monticello where a resident report a suspicious vehicle in his driveway in the early morning hours. The vehicle ultimately left and no other problems were reported.

July 1 – Tr. Endre and Recruit Adams responded to a home in Dyer Brook to investigate the late report of a burglary and theft that occurred between Jan 1st and April 1st. The investigation is still on going.

July 1 – Tr. Casavant responded to a New Limerick residence. An intoxicated male subject was at the residence and would not leave. Once he was advised the police had been called, he left on his own and did not cause any more problems.

July 2 – Tr. Curtin investigated a property damage crash where a male subject swerved to avoid a moose and struck a guardrail.

July 2 – Tr. Casavant investigated a criminal mischief complaint in Linneus. A property owner discovered damage had been done to a door on her property. The investigation in ongoing.

July 2 – Tr. Sylvia covered a car moose crash on the interstate at mile marker 265. There were no injuries.

July 2 – Tr. Luce and Recruit Desrosier investigated the theft of a motor vehicle. Their investigation led them to a 17-year-old female from St. Agatha that took the vehicle while she was at a party. The girl stated after leaving she parked the vehicle so she would not be arrested for OUI. Trp. Luce summonsed the girl for unauthorized use of property and released her to her parents.

July 3 – Tr. Casavant started a burglary investigation in Chapman. A vacant building had some property taken from it. The investigation is ongoing.

July 3 – Tr. Sylvia responded to 2 crashes in Smyrna. They were both property damage crashes. The first one happened when an individual reported swerving to avoid a moose and went off the road. The second crash occurred when a subject struck a guide wire of a utility pole. There were no injuries in either crash.

July 3 – Houlton PD requested Tr. Sucy respond to the jail as a DRE. They arrested a man that was found slumped over his steering wheel with drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Houlton PD arrested the man and Tr. Sucy conducted an evaluation on the subject. Sgt. Fuller was also requested to respond with K9 Glenni.

July 3 – Tr. Sucy and Tr. Sylvia conducted traffic enforcement on Interstate 95 during the holiday weekend utilizing LIDAR. Approximately 20 vehicles were stopped and issued summonses for speeds in excess of 90 mph in the 75 mph zone. Highest speed encountered was one motorist traveling at 102 mph.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
