18-year-old Michael Clapp of Sanford was found hiding inside a closet at the home of a friend at 38 Wentworth Street, according to Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.

Authorities say Clapp is connected to a string of burglaries that took place in Hollis, Maine and Alton, New Hampshire.

State Troopers along with the Cumberland Sheriff's Office and Biddeford Police tracked down Clapp and arrested him without incident. Clapp is being held at the York County Jail with bail set at $5,000.

Police say Clapp had been hiding out at an Old Orchard Beach motel for the past few weeks and were concerned Clapp may have been armed, but authorities have yet to find a weapon.

Three other young men have also been arrested in connection to the burglaries.
