Under state law, voters must request their absentee ballots by the close of business on the Thursday prior to an election. This includes requests to vote the ballot in the presence of the Municipal Clerk. After this deadline, a voter may only request an absentee ballot by completing a Special Circumstances Application.

Ballots can be returned until 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2013. You can find the Online Absentee Ballot Request Service here.   .

Any registered voter may cast an absentee ballot instead of voting in person on Election Day. You don't need to have a specific reason.

Secretary Dunlap encourages all Maine voters to review the Citizen's Guide to the Referendum Election to become familiar with the ballot questions.

The League of Women Voters of Maine has also prepared this easy-to-read printable voter guide to the November 5th Referendum.
