With Memorial Day weekend in our rear view mirror and the summer travel season underway, motorists will have to pay slightly more for a gallon of gas in Maine this week. According to Gasbuddy.com, a price-monitoring website, shows that a gallon of gas in Maine was up by just a half a cent per gallon, for a statewide average of $2.375 per gallon.

Nationally, a gallon of gas was at $2.363 per gallon, that's up almost 3.5 cents per gallon over the past week.

The lowest reported gas in Maine comes in from a gas station in Newport at $2.22 per gallon.

South Carolina has the lowest average gas prices in the country at $2.08 per gallon.

New Hampshire has the lowest average price in New England at $2.289 per gallon.
