The UMaine Black Bears attempt to extend their winning streak to three games fell short Monday night after digging a deep hole and losing to New Hampshire 99-91.

The Bears were outsized, outrebounded and outscored by a wide margin in the first half and trailed by as many as 23 points. They cranked up the offense in the second half but it was too little too late as they drop to 2-3 in America East and 6-12 overall.

The much bigger Wildcats beat the Bears on the boards 52-33 for the game with Ira Camara pulling down 18 himself to go along with 16 points. UNH also got 16 second chance points.

Maine got back in the game in the second half and actually outscored UNH 61-47 with Kevin Little leading the charge with a team high 22 points. The Bears put three other players in double digits with Aaron Calixte netting 16, Issac Vann 15, and Shaun Lawton 14.

Maine will go on the road Sunday to play Stony Brook.

Earlier in the day the UMaine women improved to 4-1 in America East with a 62-52 win at New Hampshire.
