If job security has been on your mind since the recession you're not alone.

A bill with the goal of protecting American loggers' jobs from being taken by those working for foreign companies recently won preliminary approval.

The bill, from Assistant Senate Majority Leader Troy Jackson, bars the state from contracting for timber harvesting on land under its control if the contractor employs foreign workers for logging.

The purpose of the bill should promote the hiring of American loggers and help any who lost their jobs because of contractors hiring Canadian workers.

The bill still has a way to go- votes from the House and Senate will determine whether or not it passes.
