You could soon be paying more to register your all-terrain vehicle if a bill in the Maine Legislature is passed in to law.

The bill that was approved yesterday in the House of Representatives would increase the annual fee for Maine residents to $38, which is $5 more than in previous years.

The extra funds would be deposited in the ATV Recreational Management Fund, which would go toward trail development and assist in the formation of ATV groups.

The bill’s sponsor, Democratic Representative Sheryl Briggs, of Mexico, Maine said that she submitted the bill at the request of ATV Maine, which represents many ATV clubs in the state.
