Southern Aroostook Warriors Drive By Bulldogs Onto North D Final

Junior Jackson Mathers poured in 24 points and led his Southern Aroostook Warriors to a convincing victory over the Machias Bulldogs at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor in a Thursday night Class D semifinal.

The Bulldogs spent most of the night chasing the quicker Warriors, who came away with a 67-59 win and a trip to the Northern Maine final on Saturday.

While Mathers had a big night, the Warriors also turned in a balanced scoring performance. Junior Luis Moreales had 13 points, Tyler Batchhelder had 12 and Nolan Altvater, 11.

For Machias, sophomore center Jacob Godfrey had 27 points, leading all scorers.
