A log truck slid off the road in the southern Aroostook County town of Merrill during Thursday’s snowstorm.

Maine State Police say 35-year-old Travis Hafford of Millinocket was eastbound on Route 212 in an empty 2006 Western Star log truck when he lost control on a corner and slid off the the snow-covered roadway. Once the right wheels left the roadway, the log truck rolled onto its side into a ditch.

The driver was not injured in the crash, police said.

The vehicle was pulled out Friday as it was unsafe to do in the dark and in the snowstorm. Route 212 was shut down for a short time while Westerdahl's Towing retrieved the truck and trailer.
