Brayden Castonguay ,of Washburn, and Faith Sjoberg, of Presque Isle will be participating in the Elks’ New England Hoop Shoot foul shooting competition to be held Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Westbrook High School.

Castonguay, the son of Jerry and Courtney Castonguay, was the champion foul shooter in the 12 and 13 year-old boys’ division at the Maine Elks Association’s State Hoop Shoot foul shooting competition held at the Bath Middle School back in January. In addition, as the top-scoring boy, making 21 of 25 foul shot attempts, Brayden won the Amos McCallum Memorial trophy.

At the same State Hoop Shoot competition, , Sjoberg, the daughter of Kevin and Susan Sjoberg, was the champion foul shooter in the girls’ 12 and 13 year-old division.  Faith sank 23 of her 25 foul shot attempts.  As the top-scoring girl in the State competition, Faith won the Alan W. Richard Trophy and qualified for the New England Elks’ Hoop Shoot Competition.

Both Faith and Brayden will be competing at the New England level in the hopes of advancing to the National Finals to be held April 22 in Chicago, Illinois.
