New trio Levon have a song to share exclusively with The Boot's readers: "Why Oh Why" is an upbeat and funky track about letting the love of your life walk all over you.

Levon lead vocalist and guitar player Michael David Hall, bass player and percussionist Jake Singleton and mandolin and guitar player Ryan Holladay are creating a soulful brand of country-pop that highlights tight harmonies, compelling lyrics and infectious melodies. Listeners will see how that all comes together when they hear "Why Oh Why," a song the trio describes as playful and honest, with a swing-y rhythm; press play below to listen.

"You tell me to leave and then beg me to stay / Giving me kisses while digging my grave / Only a fool would take it from you," sings Hall, building up to the first chorus of "Why Oh Why" while surrounded by jazzy pianos and a rocking drum beat. "So tell me, why oh why, baby / Why oh why do I / Let you do what you do? / Tell me, why oh why / Baby, why oh why do I? / I wish I knew."

With a name inspired by legendary drummer-vocalist Levon Helm and Elton John's song of the same name, Levon mix a variety of genres to create their sound. Other influences include Keith Urban, the Eagles and Creedence Clearwater Revival -- specifically, each act's musicianship, songwriting and harmonies. "Why Oh Why" is the trio's first track on Columbia Nashville / Epic Records.

"We wanted to release ["Why Oh Why"] first because it captures the band's vibe really well," Levon tell The Boot. "For the past couple years, its usually been the first song we play in our concerts and immediately grabs the listeners' attention. Most people end up singing along even though its their first time hearing the song."

Levon have spent recent years opening for artists such as Alabama, Kelsea Ballerini, Florida Georgia Line, Maddie & Tae and Chase Rice. In the coming months, they'll be doing radio appearances and playing a few shows here and there; "hopefully an opening slot [on a] tour will be in the mix sooner than later," they say.

Fans can keep up to date with Levon on Facebook and Twitter.
