Country songbird LeAnn Rimes went through a very painful public scandal in 2009, when she made tabloid headlines on a weekly basis after engaging in an extramarital affair. Rimes admits the guilt she experienced led her to write her new single, 'What Have I Done.'

Rimes had been married to her first husband, Dean Sheremet, for nearly eight years when she began filming a Lifetime movie titled 'Northern Lights' in 2009. Rumors soon began to swirl about a romance between Rimes and her co-star Eddie Cibrian, who was also married at the time, and before long, both Rimes and Cibrian were going through very public divorces while dealing with fan judgement of their relationship. The couple has been married since April of 2011.

"I wouldn't wish it on anyone ... and especially in the public eye to go through all of it," Rimes recently told Katie Couric on 'All Access Nashville.' She added, "I made my choices and I'm living with them. I also have learned from them and I've talked about this so much. But I know that I'm not the only person that goes through this. There's so many that do."

Rimes also told Couric that her ex-husband "probably knew what ['What Have I Done'] was about before I did." The song is currently available at iTunes. Rimes is slated to release a new album, 'Spitfire,' in the spring.
