Lauren Alaina will be showing off a new talent -- acting -- when she stars in the upcoming movie Road Less Traveled.

Road Less Traveled co-stars Charlene Tilton and is being filmed in Knoxville, Tenn., Billboard reports. The film is about a woman named Charlotte (played by Alaina) who can't seem to find the balance between planning her wedding and writing music.

"I am so excited to be doing a movie," Alaina tells Billboard. "This is a whole new world for me. I'm learning so much every day. We have such an awesome cast and crew, and I can't wait for everyone to see this new side of me."

In Road Less Traveled, Charlotte decides to take a break from her life in Los Angeles and head to her hometown of Harmony, Tenn. There, she meets up with her high school love and begins to wonder what her life could have been like if she'd never left her hometown.

"As a boy growing up in Oklahoma, country music and its roots in Tennessee were important influences for me. We are thrilled to be here in Knoxville making our first film, and to be collaborating with Lauren and Universal Music Group Nashville,” says Executive Producer Kristofer McNeeley. “Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long relationship in the state bringing Tennessee and country music to millions of fans worldwide through film.”

Road Less Traveled is being produced by Marvista Entertainment and executive produced by McNeeley and Fernando Szew. Producer Stacia Crawford has also signed on for the project, which is being directed by Blair Hayes and was written by Michael and Samantha Shear. The movie, as country fans may have realized, takes its name from Alaina's latest singe, “Road Less Traveled," which comes from her self-titled EP, released last August.

A release date for Road Less Traveled has not yet been revealed.
