Kree Harrison Shares Her Debut Single, ‘This Old Thing’ [LISTEN]

Three years after her time on American Idol, Kree Harrison has released her debut single, "This Old Thing."

"This Old Thing" is reminiscent of old-school soul; the song has a calming vibe that makes it the perfect soundtrack for a lazy day or afternoon drive. The lyrics, which note that what doesn't seem to change in life are the the little things that often bring the most happiness, pair well with Harrison's pure, effortless voice.

"Ain't nothing new / I'm just saying / Still no rules in this game that we're playing," the Idol Season 12 runner-up sings. "We're all out here moving and shaking / To this old thing / This old thing ..."

Harrison has been working on music since ending her American Idol run in May of 2013. The singer lost both of her parents at a young age, but she's continued to maintain a positive outlook on life and appreciate the happiness that she sings about.

"It’s just so much harder to be unhappy. It takes a lot of energy to walk around and feel sorry for yourself or be negative," she says.  "And it’s draining — not just to you but to other people.”
