Make it a Black Bear basketball sweep for UMaine teams. The women's team beat Central Connecticut State. The men's team took down Longwood University.

UMaine junior guard Sigi Koizar continued her strong early season play, scoring 21 points in a Wednesday afternoon win over Central Connecticut State.

Koizar has been in double-digit scoring in all five games played by the Black Bears.

Senior Liz Wood had a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds. Add in five assists and four steals.

Maine led just 29-27 at the half but them went on to out score the Blue Devils 33-15 in the second half.

For the day, the Bears shot 51% from the field, Central Conn St just 36%.

Maine improves to 3-2. CCSU drops to 1-4.

The UMaine men's team made it a doubleheader win for Black Bear fans. A 92-82 win over Longwood University from Virginia is the first of the year for coach Bob Walsh and his Bears.

Junior Garet Beal came off the bench and scored 23 points in 28 minutes to lead Maine.

Aaron Calixte and Issac Vann scored 14 each. Vann left the game with an injury.

The Black Bears shot 50% from the field and 49% from the three point line.

Maine is now 1-3. Longwood is 2-4.
