Kip Moore Reveals New Acoustic Track ‘It Ain’t California’ [LISTEN]
Kip Moore has shared another track off of his upcoming acoustic EP, Room to Spare. Readers can press play to hear "It Ain't California" -- and try to catch all of the Tom Petty song references in its lyrics.
Moore first began writing "It Ain't California," a heartfelt love song, about a decade ago, Rolling Stone reports, but he needed some help refining the verses. That's where friend and songwriter Charlie Worsham came in.
“Charlie heard me humming the chorus and was immediately engaged, asking why I wasn’t recording that one," Moore explains. "I explained my reservations, which led to us talking about a variety of topics, one being Tom Petty mixed with the vanity of the world, and how it seems musicians are chasing fame now rather than greatness. And Petty being a guiding musical light all these years.
"Next thing you know," he adds, "we were re-writing "It Ain’t California.""
Moore will drop Room to Spare -- a project his fans have been asking for for quite some time -- on Nov. 16. Following the release of the acoustic EP, Moore will begin a brief, four-show tour in support of the project on Nov. 29; Worsham and Jillian Jacqueline will join him for the trek.
Moore has been on the road for his After the Sunburn Tour, with Jacqueline and Jordan Davis, since late September. The tour is scheduled to conclude on Nov. 17 in Nashville.
