When Kelly Clarkson was asked by Jenny McCarthy if she and her husband Brandon Blackstock are going to have any more kids, she didn’t hesitate with the answer. Clarkson — who has had difficult pregnancies both times — has closed up shop for good.

“I was literally pregnant with Remi, and I was like, ‘You are getting fixed. This will never happen to me again,'” Clarkson, 34, admits.

Not only did Blackstock get a vasectomy, but Clarkson also got 'fixed' — just to be sure.

“If something happens, it’s a miracle of God. I literally told my OBGYN on the table while open, ‘If I get pregnant again, I will find you!'" she jokes.

Clarkson has been open about the difficulties of her pregnancies, noting that she was so sick she had to go to the hospital both times. Fans will remember she had to cancel shows due to illness, as well.

“It’s horrible. Nothing is beautiful, nothing is magical,” she says. “Whatever, you’re that person that gets that pregnancy, good for you. I will remind my children every day of their lives what I [went through].”

So why did she endure it a second time? Clarkson says it was all about giving her daughter, River Rose, a sibling close in age.

“I wanted another little buddy [for River]. I didn’t want a kid to just be an odd man out because I felt like that a lot. I wanted her to have somebody her age, like when we’re traveling," she explains. "And so I thought, ‘Okay, we’ll just do it again.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way it can happen again,’ but it was worse. Remi’s pregnancy was worse than River's."

Now she has four kids total — Blackstock has two older children from a previous relationship — so Clarkson is more than happy to be done birthing children.

“We have a 15-year-old, 9-year-old, 2[-year-old] and 5-month-old … I already have days where I cry, so we don’t need any more kids. It’s a lot,” she mentioned to Ellen DeGeneres when asked about extending her family.

Clarkson is currently promoting her children’s book, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby.
