Jolene’s Family Halloween Tradition
Every year the women of my family get together and do something that has become a family tradition.
For the last 20 something years, my mother, grandmother, and I have always made homemade popcorn balls to give out to family on Halloween. In recent years we have included my sister-in-law and even my daughter. So we now have 4 generations of women spending quality time together, making popcorn balls.
Yesterday we all got together and popped the kernels of corn with the old hot air popper, made the homemade molasses mixture that would bind the popcorn together, mixed it all up and made the sweet treats.
In all I think we made 5 batches, consisting of about 15 to 20 popcorn balls each.
While I don’t want to give away any family secrets as far as the recipe goes, I always look forward to this time of year and family tradition.
