Joey Floyd, a member of Toby Keith's Easy Money Band for many years, has died. According to a Facebook post from Keith, Floyd had been battling cancer and passed away on Sunday (Feb. 14).

"There will be a hole on stage and a hole in the hearts of all that loved him," Keith says. "Rest in peace ol' friend."

A native of the Fort Worth, Texas, area, Floyd played fiddle and banjo in the Easy Money Band (named for how a fresh-out-of-high-school Keith felt about his very first paying gig). Little information is available about Floyd; however, in the 1980 movie Honeysuckle Rose, he played Jamie Bonham, the son of Willie Nelson's character in the film. The two had kept in touch and, in the 1990s, Floyd helped introduce Keith and Nelson, beginning a friendship that spawned the pair's 2003 collaboration, "Beer for My Horses," and the 2008 movie of the same name.

Sadly, Floyd is the second Easy Money Band member who has died in recent years. In 2013, bass player and band leader Carl "Chuck" Goff Jr. died following a car crash. He was 54 years old.

Floyd is survived by his wife Laurin.
