Actor Jeff Nordling will be joining the cast of Nashville during the second half of Season 5, CMT has announced. The actor will play a record label executive.

A New Jersey native, Nordling will play Brad Maitland, "a successful, charming, egotistical and narcissistic owner of the most successful record label in town," according to CMT. His introduction into the Nashville universe comes as Highway 65's future is up in the air following the (spoiler alert!) death of its founder, Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton).

Most recently, Nordling portrayed Gordon Klein on Big Little Lies -- which starred Keith Urban's wife Nicole Kidman -- but he has also held roles in a number of other TV shows and movies: He played Reba McEntire's ex-husband Bobby Gallagher on the sitcom Malibu Country, Nick Bolen in Desperate Housewives and Larry Moss in 24, among other TV roles; Nordling also starred as Ted Orion in D3: The Mighty Ducks.

On Monday (April 10), CMT announced that Season 5 of Nashville will return from its mid-season break on June 1, at 9PM ET; additionally, the network revealed that the show has been renewed for a sixth season. When Nashville returns, the action will pick back up 10 weeks following everything that occurred during the show's Season 5 mid-season finale in early March. CMT picked up Nashville for its fifth season after ABC canceled the TV drama following Season 4, in 2016. In addition to Nordling, since its Season 5 mid-season finale, Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday have joined the show's cast.
