Jason Aldean's They Don't Know album is out Friday (Sept. 9) and the singer couldn't be more excited — especially to hear how it's received. The superstar tells Taste of Country Nights that he loves how "brutally honest" his fans are about new music.

"I'm just curious to see what people’s reactions are, whether it’s my family or friends or just anybody," Aldean says. Sure, he let his wife and daughters hear it first, but it's the raw reaction from his diehard fans he's been most eager to have.

"I think that’s one of the best things about actually getting to put the album out is you get feedback and you get a chance to really — fans are brutally honest, which I love," he adds. "You put it out there and you get a chance to hear what they actually think about the album, which is great.”

Aldean's wife, Brittany Kerr, is an especially big fan of the singer's newest single, "A Little More Summertime." His youngest daughter's favorite? "Whichever she heard last," Aldean shares with a laugh. As for us? We're digging that duet with Kelsea Ballerini, "First Time Again," which Aldean says it wasn't originally meant to be a duet.

"Just kinda the more we listened to it the more we felt like it could be," he explains. "We started looking around at different female voices to possibly use and she was one that kinda stuck out. She’s killing it right now, man ... It wasn’t until the song she has out now, the ‘Peter Pan’ song, where I got to hear her voice in a different way. That’s the song that I went, ‘Oh, alright. This could be really good.’ So she came in and she killed it. She did great. I’m excited to have her on the album."

“It’s been a great year," he concludes, referring to the success he's seen in 2016, including his latest No. 1 single. "I’m just happy that people care enough to listen and come out to shows.”

Fans can continue to catch Aldean on his Six Strings Circus Tour, which runs through Oct. 1. They Don't Know is now available on iTunes.
