The Cadillac Three will soon become the Cadillac Four ... so to speak. Jaren Johnston and his wife, Evyn, announced at a sold-out show in Nashville on Thursday (Oct. 13) that they are expecting their first baby, due in April.

The frontman shared the news from the stage at Bridgestone Arena before performing “White Lightning,” an appropriate choice, as it’s about his love for his wife.

“Evyn and I have been together for 15 years. We’ve been through so much together but nothing has ever been as exciting as expecting our first baby,” Johnston says in a news release. “We can’t wait to meet this little bad ass in April!”

The group tweeted afterward about the show, saying “Last night was special. Thank you Nashville!"

The Cadillac Three are currently on the road with Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots Tour. Their most recent album, Bury Me in My Boots, dropped in early August.

Besides writing for the band, Johnston is a prolific songwriter on his own, having penned a vast array of songs for artists like Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Frankie Ballard and many others. He’s been known to write quickly, according to some of his co-writers, and if it’s not right, he’s not afraid to scrap most of it and rebuild.

“We’ll write a whole song and if like the feel of it wasn’t right … and it just doesn’t feel like something that’s gonna connect with people, sometimes he’ll take the song and rip it completely apart, strip it down to just a guitar and a vocal kind of thing and turn it into something completely different,” Neil Mason shares.

He says that’s to avoid pushing a song into a mold that doesn’t fit. “You get frustrated,” he says, “and then you force it in a way where it’s probably not the best place for the song.”
