Crews will be rebuilding the northbound lanes of I-95 from Island Falls to Oakfield to minimize frost heaves.  Until the road work is completed sometime in November, traffic will be detoured onto Route 2 for approximately 6 ½ miles.

The Maine Department of Transportation says that by fully closing the northbound lanes of the highway from Island Falls to Oakfield, the project will take less time and be less expensive.

Lane Construction Corporation received the bid to complete the $13.8 million reconstruction project.

Road work will also be taking place this summer and fall approximately 1 ½ miles north of the Oakfield exit, which will require temporary lane closures.

Motorists are advised to obey speed limits when traveling the detour route.
