Husson Streak Reaches 12
The University of Maine baseball team dropped a conference double-header on Friday while Husson University grabbed two wins ad extend their winning streak to 12 games.
The Black Bears blew a early 4-0 lead and lose to Stony Brook 8-5 in 13 innings in the first game. The Bears were leading 4-0 after six innings before the Seawolves battled back and eventually won the game with three runs in the top of the 13th inning. The game was the first of a double-header and part of a three game weekend series at Mahaney Diamond.
After tying the game in the top of the 8th inning the teams traded runs in the 12th before Stony Brook won it a inning later.
In game two the Bears could never get their bats going resulting in a 3-1 loss. Scott Health went the distance allowing those 3 runs on 8 hits and4 strikeouts. Maine is now 9-17 on the season and 1-4 in America East play. The two teams wrap up their series with a game at 1pm today.
Husson University ran its winning streak to 12 games after getting a double-header sweep over Thomas College.
The Eagles won the first game 1-0 in 11 innings when Ryan Rebar singled in the winning run.
In game two Husson cruised to a 13-0 win thanks to Zach Sugar who homered and drove in 3 runs. Christian Corneil added three hits and an rbi for the Eagles who improve to 14-7 overall and 10-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Next up for the Eagles is a non-conference game against the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday. The Huskies are currently ranked 15th in the nation.
