On Wednesday, Doctor Waleed Khan accepted a reprimand and fine in a Consent Agreement signed with the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine for violation of the Board's sexual misconduct rules.

Earlier this month, two nurses actually witnessed Doctor Khan kissing a female patient who arrived at the ER under the influence of drugs and with lacerations on her arm. Doctor Khan stated that the patient initiated the kiss and he did not know how to respond. He was fired by the hospital.

Doctor Khan said in his Consent Agreement that the incident was the result of a cultural misunderstanding and his ethnic background.

Doctor Khan practiced in Houlton on a temporary license, and currently resides in Texas.

Doctor Khan earned his medical degree from the University of Peshawar in Pakistan in 1997.
