Maine State Police are investigating a hit and run accident in Easton on Monday around 3:00pm involving a horse drawn buggy traveling southbound on Rt 1A.

According to Sgt. Brian L. Harris of the Maine State Police, a southbound car struck the buggy, pushing it off the road onto a lawn. The 16-year-old male operator of the buggy was thrown but did not sustain any injuries. The buggy was destroyed by the impact and the horse was not injured in the crash.

Harris believes the vehicle involved is a newer style Volkswagen, black in color and will have front end damage.
