Presque Isle’s 29th Annual Holiday Light Parade will be held on Saturday, December 1, and is expected to draw a large crowd of spectators to celebrate the spirit of the season.

The parade route begins at the University of Maine at Presque Isle at 6:00 p.m. and heads down Main Street to North Street, where trophies will be awarded afterwards. Northern Light AR Gould Hospital will be also be offering cocoa and cookies. Temperatures during the evening are expected to be in the mid-20’s with calm winds.

Emcee Shawn Cunningham from WAGM-TV and a Chamber representative will provide light-hearted commentary as the floats pass by the reviewing stand. Parade entries are judged for Best General, Best Non-Profit, Best Business, Best Faith-Based,and Parade Champion Float.

Emera Maine is the light parade’s sponsor again this year, and along with the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce. Line up for the parade begins at 4:30 p.m. at UMPI.

Once again this year, the Santa’s Sleigh Team will have a float in the light parade and volunteers will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children in the community.

Spectators can also enjoy children’s activities and a craft fair during the day Saturday at the Presque Isle Recreation Center.
