A woman from the Southern Aroostook County town of Hodgdon died on Wednesday afternoon after she was found unresponsive in her swimming pool.

Maine State Police say that 46-year-old Lisa Desrochers was found in the in-ground pool by her daughter at around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Trooper Shawn Whalen responded to Hodgdon to for the medical call, as did Houlton Fire and Ambulance. Desrochers was transported by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital where she pronounced dead.

Trooper Whalen was assisted at the scene by Lt. John Cote and Sgt. Brian L. Harris. 

According to Steve McCausland with the Maine Department of Public Safety, Desrochers had been using a wheelbarrow to move firewood into her basement shortly before she was found in the nearby pool.

The investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner Office in Augusta to determine the exact cause of death.
