Heroin Busts in Kennebec County
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has arrested four people in Winthrop for their roles in trafficking heroin throughout Kennebec County.
Commander Peter Arno says this was a investigation among the Maine Drug Enforcement Agencies South Central Task Force in Augusta, the Winthrop Police Department, the Monmouth Police Department, the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and the State Police.
Arrested were:
Michelle St. Laurent, 28 , of Winthrop, She has been charged with Class “A” Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin) and violation of condition of release. The drug charge was aggravated due to the amount of heroin seized. No bail allowed.
Tyrone Lindsay, 20, of Waterbury, Connecticut. He has been charged with Class “A” Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin). Bail was set at $20,000 cash.
Daniel Ackerly, 30, of Winthrop. He has been charged with Class “B” Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin). Bail has been set at $2500 cash.
Frederick Werner, 59, of Winthrop. He has been charged with Class “B” Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin). Bail has been set at $2500 unsecured.
As part of the ongoing effort to stem the distribution of heroin throughout Kennebec County, agents from MDEA’s South Central Task Force in Augusta, arrested Ackerly and Werner Thursday following an investigation that included the undercover purchase of heroin.
Arno says the investigation led agents to the home of Michelle St. Laurent located on the Mt. Pisgah Road in Winthrop. Friday afternoon, MDEA Agents, officers from the Winthrop Police Department and State Troopers searched St. Laurent’s home. Both St. Laurent and Lindsay were present inside the home at the time.
Investigators located 76 grams of heroin, along with approximately $2400 in cash , suspected to be from the sale of the heroin. The street value of the heroin seized was $15,000
All were transported to the Kennebec County Jail following their arrests. A court date of September 22 was set for all four defendants.
