"If someone has a background in healthcare or would like to learn about training for a job in this field, this is a must-attend event," explains Christy Daggett, Senior Manager, ACAP Workforce Development. "Our job counselors will be available to help job seekers determine if they qualify for federal Workforce and Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds specifically earmarked for Aroostook County residents."

Job-seekers are encouraged to bring their resume and be ready to meet with employers!  In addition, thanks to a recent upgrade to the Maine Department of Labor's computer-based job search tool, the Maine Job Link, experts from the CareerCenter will be on hand to help job-seekers register on the new tool.  The Maine Job Link makes it easier than ever for employers to find job seekers to fill their vacancies – so an employer may just find you, rather than the other way around.  At this writing, there are almost 10,000 open jobs on the Maine Job Link, and over 9,000 Mainers have posted their resumes.

“Skilled healthcare workers are in high demand,” says Daggett.   “The healthcare sector in Maine has led in employment growth, steadily producing new jobs every year since 1992, and job growth is expected to remain strong in years to come.  There are a variety of ways to enter healthcare employment – nursing is in high demand, but so are physical therapists, medical laboratory technicians, certified nurse’s aides, and medical assistants.”
