State Police say a Portland man is in critical condition after his vehicle was struck head on Monday night on I-295 in South Portland.

State Police said a 2002 Toyota 4-Runner operated by 37 year old Paul Regan of Dayton was traveling south when he lost control and crossed into the median. The vehicle went airborne after striking the guardrail and then collided with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee  head-on in the northbound side. The Jeep was operated by 26 year old Nicholas Dubose of Portland. Dubose had one passenger, 25 year old Thomas Netting. Dubose suffered a serious head injury and is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center. Regan and Netting had minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
