132 of Maine's best amateur golfers will tee it up today at historic York Golf & Tennis Club for the 97th Maine Amateur Championship.

All golfers have had to qualify to get in the field. Cape Elizabeth golfer John Hayes IV is defending champion and will tee off in the first group of the day at 7am.

13-time champ Mark Plummer from Augusta  was runner-up last year. He tees off at 10:50am.

The York course is one of the oldest in Maine but it's just the second time as host for the state amateur championship.

The 132 player field gets cut to the top 40 scores for the final round on Thursday.
