A winter storm over the holiday weekend brought 6 to 14 inches of fresh snow to Maine and New Brunswick, some 15 to 36 centimetres, and has many people digging out today. A New Brunswick man wants to give backs a break from shoveling with a new on-demand snow removal service.

Sean Griffith is launching an Uber-like snow removal service in the coming weeks in Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John.

Griffith says the idea for Plow Me Out came after last year's brutal winter in the Maritimes, which saw record breaking snowfall amounts.

He says he got fed up with shovelling, but didn't want to commit to a seasonal snow removal contract.

Griffith says people using his service create an account on their website, or through the Plow Me Out app, then answer a few questions about their driveway, and a quote is rendered.

Once the snow clearing is requested, a notification goes out to an array of snow contractors in the area.

Griffith plans on expanding the business later this winter to include Truro, Halifax, Charlottetown and St. John's, Newfoundland.
