The 2016 IBU World Cup Biathlon competition kicks off Thursday at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle with fresh snow and excitement in the cold February air.

Athletes from 32 countries are competing through the weekend in World Cup 8, the final event before the World Championships.

For spectators coming to the biggest international sporting event of the year in Maine, here is the biathlon schedule, ticket prices and other key information.

Thursday, Feb. 11

10:30AM…… Men’s 10 km Sprint

12:40PM……..Women’s 7.5 km Sprint

Friday, Feb. 12

11:30AM……. Men’s 12.5 km Pursuit

1:10PM……….Women’s 10 km Pursuit

Saturday, Feb. 13

2:30PM……….Men’s 4 x 7.5 km Relay

Sunday, Feb. 14

12:10PM………Womens 4 x 6 km Relay

Award ceremonies will be held in the stadium directly following each competition.

Parking for spectators will be in the Gallagher parking lot, 1/4 mile east of the entrance to the Nordic Heritage Center. Just look for the signs. Shuttle buses will be running every 15 minutes, beginning 1 ½ hours prior to races.

Tickets are $8.00 general admission, $4.00 for students (18 and under), and $20.00 for a family.
