Girl Scouts In The County May Be Able To Earn A Brand New Badge!

If you have ever been a Girl Scout, or have a girl who is one, then you know badges are a sign of accomplishment. Well, there's a cool, new badge that they can earn.

It's not just the green vests and the famous cookies we love so much, but knowing out girls are learning life skills, on so many levels, in the Girl Scouts is really what makes the whole experience worthwhile.

The Girl Scouts will celebrate 105 years in America this year. Who would have known that back in 1912, when Juliette Gordon Low began her first troupe, after meeting Robert Baden-Powell, who is known as the father of scouting.

After Low returned to Savannah, Georgia, she phoned her cousin and told her that she thought she might have something for the girls in their town and scouting was born to little girls all across America.

Now, cyber security is another badge that they will be able to earn. In many parts of the country, S.T.E.M. education is taking off like wildfire.

The purpose of the badge is to expose girls to Science Technology Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) and help them earn a badge for their chest. As they are learning S.T.E.M., the hope is that they will become aware of cyber crimes and bullying, of which, girls have become targets.
