Officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday reporting a shooting at an apartment house on Bald Mountain Drive in Bangor. Police say the toddler was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. It was described as a life-threatening injury.

According to WABI-TV, a neighbor said that the girl’s father was distraught when he came running out of the apartment. The little girl was reportedly breathing and had her eyes open when she was taken to Eastern Mane Medical Center.

Police continue to investigate what they believe to be an accidental shooting.  No word on the girl’s condition today.  Her parents have been staying by her side in the hospital.
