Even the deadest of dead Game of Thrones characters are hardly off-limits by Season 7, though it had appeared Season 6 made short work of lingering figures to tighten up its final years. Surprisingly, we may not have seen the last of a Game of Thrones villain who made a brief return in Season 6, despite a pretty large hole in his neck. Allow us to explain.

Game of Thrones Season 7 isn’t quite spinning the rumor mill the way Jon Snow’s corpse had, but an actor’s official, agency-backed resumé may have tipped toward their return in Season 7. You’re warned of spoilers from here on out, but despite having his throat slit at the hands of Arya Stark, David Bradley’s Walder Frey is listed as appearing in Season 7 (via Watchers on the Wall).

On the one hand, Game of Thrones makes frequent habit of bringing back a season’s deceased characters for a corpse-y final glimpse, which may well explain the sight of Walder Frey. Then again, Arya did manage to keep her talent for wearing other people’s faces, and how better to kick off her revenge than assuming Walder’s identity, and a seat of power at The Twins?

Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 7, a list of directors for the year has been announced along with rumors of some major set pieces and battles, while at least a portion of filming will take place in Iceland. Harry Potter star Jim Broadbent has been confirmed for a “significant” role, along with UFC star Conor McGregor, while several notable returns have likely been revealed, and one recast.

We’ll hear more of Game of Thrones Season 7 in the coming weeks and months, but what other unexpected returns might we see?
