Frenchville Man With Several OUI Convictions Charged in Crash
The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office has charged a Frenchville man with Operating Under the Influence after he crashed his truck on U.S. Route 1.
The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call shortly before 4:30 p.m.Thursday reporting a man was operating a vehicle erratically in the parking lot of a local business, had struck a utility pole and was just sitting there revving the engine.
As Deputies were responding, the vehicle headed north on Route 1 toward Madawaska, according to a news release from Sheriff Darrell Crandall. A short time later a truck was reported off the road on Route 1 near Star Barn Road in Frenchville. Deputy Sheriff Corey Saucier arrived and found Patrick Kelly, 50, of Frenchville behind the wheel of his 2010 Chevrolet pickup.
Kelly was transported by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Crandall said. He was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Operating After Suspension and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
Sheriff Crandall said Kelly has several recent convictions for OUI. He is scheduled to appear in Fort Kent Court on September 1. Fortunately, no one else was injured during this incident.
