You can take a cruise along the Kennebec River for free this Thursday through Saturday. Maine Water Tours, Inc. is considering a local river transportation and cruise service that may include a water shuttle between Gardiner, Hallowell and Augusta, sunset and happy hour cruises, other scenic cruises and private charters.

These test cruises are to see how the public reaction and demand are for these cruises.

Therefore, they'll have these free Kennebec River shuttles this Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m.

They hope that the public will use the boat shuttles for site-seeing the leaping sturgeon and bald eagles along the Kennebec and to enjoy time shopping and dining in Gardiner and Hallowell.

The shuttles will depart from Gardiner on the hour and Hallowell on the half-hour, weather permitting on a first-come, first serve basis. The boat holds 16 passengers. Anyone 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
