Three people were displaced by a fire early Monday that extensively damaged a house on Fredericton’s north side.

There were no serious injuries from the fire on Broad Street, which was reported shortly after 1 a.m., although Fredericton firefighters had to rescue one man through an upstairs window.

Damage was primarily confined to the kitchen and attic. There was also heat and water damage throughout the 2-storey home.

The couple who owned the house have made their own arrangements through insurers for a temporary place to stay and other assistance, according to Dan Bedell of the Canadian Red Cross

Volunteers from the Red Cross are supporting a male tenant with emergency lodging, food and clothing purchases.
