A McAdam man is facing charges following a home invasion at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at a residence in Harvey, New Brunswick.

Several people allegedly forced their way into the home on Route 3 and assaulted four people, according to Cpl. Jayson Hansen of West District RCMP.  Two of the victims were taken to hospital for treatment. The suspects were known to the victims and the investigation indicates there is no threat to the general public, Hansen said.

Police say one of the suspects barricaded himself inside a residence on Saunders Road in McAdam.   About nine hours later, just after 9:00 a.m. Sunday, the man surrendered to police and was arrested.

Clayton Maynard Ernest Townes of McAdam appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court Monday afternoon. and was charged with assault, being unlawfully in a dwelling, having a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and mischief to property.

Two more men from McAdam, ages 27 and 35, and a 31-year-old man from Three Tree Creek were also arrested in connection with the home invasion. All three men were released on promises to appear in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
