Fort Fairfield Man Arrested for Theft of Donation Funds
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office says a 26-year-old Fort Fairfield man has been charged with stealing money from a donation jar at an area market.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of theft of money from a donation jar at North Star Variety in New Sweden. The funds were being collected for a youth ice fishing derby.
Deputy Sheriff Corey Saucier was able to identify one of the people involved in the theft as Matthew Cocheran of Fort Fairfield. Cocheran was located as his residence and charged with theft and violation of conditions of release. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
Police say further charges are pending as the investigation continues.
