The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a flood watch for northern Maine through most of the weekend.  Between 3 and 5 inches of rain has fallen across the region since last weekend and that has left grounds saturated and many streams and creeks running high.

Forecasters say there is potential for additional heavy rainfall across the area today, tonight and Sunday afternoon.  This may cause smaller streams and creeks to overflow their banks. We can also expect areas of standing water on the roadways.

The weather service says rivers in northern Maine should see significant rises, but are not expected to flood at this time.
