On the heels of a wet and windy January thaw, the National Weather Service says a winter storm could dump more than a foot of snow on northern Maine beginning Tuesday night.

A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for Tuesday night and Wednesday with 6–10 inches of snow expected across Aroostook County.

Forecasters expect the snow to become heavy overnight then taper off during the day Wednesday from south to north. Meanwhile the wind will increase to 20 to 30 m.p.h. with some higher gusts. This will likely lead to areas of blowing and drifting snow Wednesday afternoon and evening, creating visibility issues and poor driving Conditions.
