Ten people in an extended family were displaced by a fire Sunday afternoon that destroyed their home in Bath, New Brunswick.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. at a two-storey Victorian-era home on Church Street near the downtown area. Firefighters from Bath, Florenceville-Bristol and Centreville responded to the blaze and were on scene for several hours.

A spokesman for the Canadian Red Cross said the family was away at the time and there were no injuries. Red Cross disaster volunteers were helping with emergency lodging, food and other support for the family, which includes four adults and six children. The home is thought to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire in under investigation.
