Fire Destroys Camp in Cross Lake Township, Maine

Firefighters are trying to determine what caused a structure fire at 29 Sylvio Road in Cross Lake Monday morning around 11:15 am.

The camp was fully engulfed in the fire, and the woods were starting to burn when firefighters arrived, said Chief Darren R. Woods. The camp was a total loss. The woods fire was contained and extinguished.

North Lakes Fire responded with 4 trucks and 15 firefighters, assisted by St. Agatha with 2 trucks and 8 firefighters, plus a Ranger from the Maine Forest Service.

The camp was unoccupied and no one was injured in the fire. A camp owner across the lake from the fire reported it to authorities.
