Fire Damages Vacant Home in Littleton, Deemed Suspicious
Fire crews responded to a fire at a vacant farmhouse in Littleton on Saturday.
According to Littleton Fire Chief Dwight Cowperthwaite, 20 firefighters with three engines and two tanker trucks responded to the farmhouse on the Framingham Road in Littleton just before 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
When fire crews arrived on scene, the house was partially overtaken by flames. Crews were able to contain most of the fire damage to the second story of the home.
The Littleton Fire Department received mutual aid from the Monticello Fire Department.
The Chief said he wasn't sure who owned the home or if there was any insurance it. It is also unclear when the home was last occupied.
Chief Cowperthwaite estimated that the home received about $75,000 in damage. There was no electricity going to the home, and the fire has been deemed suspicious.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
