A man whose wife was said to have gone missing from a Walmart parking lot is now charged with her murder.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says State Police took Luc Tieman, 32,  into custody at around 10 a.m. and charged him with murder for the death of his wife, 34-year-old Valerie Tieman. He was arrested by detectives along Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville, near where he stayed last night in a motel.

Valerie's body was found in a wooded area in Fairfield on Tuesday, behind the house she shared with her husband and his parents. Luc Tieman has originally told Police that he last saw his wife in their truck outside the Skowhegan Walmart when he went into the store.

He claimed that when he returned to the vehicle, Valerie was missing. However, he had never reported her missing. Her parents, who live out of state, notified police of her disappearance 10 days after Luc said he last saw her.

Police say Tieman offered no resistance and was taken to the Kennebec County Jail. An autopsy is now underway at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta.
