A big announcement from Emera Maine in Presque Isle came today in the form of $250,000.

Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service Company announced a major sponsorship with the Maine Winter Sports Center and its Healthy Hometowns program. Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service President Gerry Chasse announced a donation of $250,000 to the program at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle.

Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service effectively have been operating as one company for some time and on January 1st will make it official by coming together under the name Emera Maine.

At the event Emera Maine President, Chasse, presented a check to Andrew Shepard of the Maine Winter Sports Center while student-athletes shared stories of what the Maine Winter Sports Center has meant to them, and why support of the Healthy Hometowns program matters to Maine.
