Police say that 79-year-old Budsen Anderson was reportedly working on lawn equipment in a small shed behind his home on Country Club Drive on Nickerson Lake at about 2:45 p.m. when the explosion happened.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department said that Mr. Anderson did manage to make it out of the demolished shed before he collapsed and died.

Neighbors heard the blast and called for help.

The state fire marshal’s office is trying to determine the cause of the explosion.

This was the second fatal explosion in Aroostook County this week.
